Pat Boone Leads Peers On Homage To Holly, Big Bopper And Valens

Known universally as the Day the Music Died, February 3rd, 1959 saw Buddy Holly, Ritchie Valens and The Big Bopper enter immortality. Not fading away as they might if not for the fatal plane crash, the rock ‘n’ roll upstarts became an influence not only on the future generation of artists but also on their peers. And now some of these – led by Pat Boone and including such luminaries as Frankie Avalon and Chris Montez – covered 31 one of the fallen heroes classics.

Forming a powerful double-disc – in both CD and vinyl variants – compilation titled “Three Stars Tribute” which will be out on September 4th, it’s a most interesting offering, because a few of the musicians, like the aforementioned ones and Jimmy Angel, were there, when those they pay homage to rose to fame. A solid thing.
