IT’S ALL SO BEAU…
Trevor Midgley, or BEAU, had a great champion in John Peel who signed the British singer-songwriter to his Dandelion label, and it was there that a psych-folk classic“Creation” was recorded in 1971 with THE WAY WE LIVE, or TRACTOR, backing the troubadour. Now, right after Beau’s latest, 2011’s "The Way It Was", Cherry Red Records makes that old album available for the first time as official download titled “Creation Recreated” that expands on the original 11-track LP – now completely remastered, of course – with 11 bonus cuts. It’s out on September 19th on iTunes, Amazon and all major download sites worldwide. The additional info is here, with a review to appear soon.
AGENT ON THE LOOSE
In Atlanta, they know how to rock, and AGENT COOPER know it better than most. They mix their southern style with prog and boast experienced players in their ranks: singing guitarist Doug Busbee who was in SALEM ASH as well as bassist Sean Delson, the one who shares STUCK MOJO and FOZZY credentials with guitarist Mike Martin, plus drummer Ganesh Giri Jaya and keyboardist Eric Frampton whose CVs are also impressive. Now, their collective kick is to be felt the a series of EPs that the band are to put out over the next few months. And here’s a new song, “Mother”, available as free download here. More fresh confections will be presented on October 1st. For further details, visit the quintet’s site.
IN THE THICK OF IT ALL
JETHRO TULL fans have a good reason to be happy: there’s an anniversary expanded edition of “Aqualung” hitting the shelves and its successor, “Thick As A Brick”to be performed live in its entirety soon – for the first time since 1972. But not by the band as many think. Martin Barre, the ensemble’s guitarist and Ian Anderson‘s only permanent sidekick for more than four decades, posted a news on his site stating that this forthcoming tour is Anderson’s solo venture while himself comes with a new band and new plans to be revealed soon. And this surely will be more interesting that TULL’s recent affairs.
THROW YOUR DOLLAR ON THE LINE
Musicians struggle these days but many still believe in the public and hope that those who like what they do can help them and finance their new product. And many succeed! Now it’s George Mileson to send a clarion call to his listeners. That’s what he says: “I’m really trusting in the crowdfunding concept. in which people can do a contribution (what they want) and choose a reward in return (CDs, vinyl, private shows, their name in the booklet). I would need more fans and friends supporting this project”.
TIME TO CRUNCH
There are people whose names only guarantee nothing as guaranteed regarding your expectations on their records. But when there’s three of those artists you can expect a lot of fun, and that’s what’s in spades on an eponymous album by Tony Levin, an experimentation hero whose bass lines augment the tapes by the greatest, from Alice Cooper to John Lennon to KING CRIMSON, David Torn who played with the best and snatched a couple of Grammies for himself, and Alan White, another Lennon connection most famous for drumming for 40 years in YES. More on what’s it all about later – in both review and interview – but check those titles now!
