It may be a bad, bad, bad practice, milking their fans, but, a decade after STATUS QUO‘s “Live!” was expanded into a four-CD set, with two discs dedicated to this on-stage classic and other two given to previously unreleased shows from Australia and Japan, a second boxed collection, this time blown up to eight platters, is scheduled to hit the shelves.
Planned to arrive on May 16th under the same title, to further complicate matters for completists, it contains a fresh version of the 1977 double-LP, not only mixed and mastered from recently found multi-track tapes but also presented in the original running order – and the pieces were played, over three nights in Glasgow, in the same order, which is obvious, as the three pairs of discs that complement the album culled from those concert present those concerts in full. Aficionados should be elated; the regular listeners won’t deem this essential.
