Steve Morse Pays Tribute To Late Wife On New Album

When Steve Morse parted ways with DEEP PURPLE in 2022, it wasn’t due to his wanting to pursue other ventures: the guitarist left to be with his terminally ill wife, who sadly died last year, and how else could the veteran recuperate from the tragedy other than playing his heart out. This is exactly what Steve’s doing on the album credited to Morse’s group, called “Triangulation” and scheduled for release on November 14th.

The ensemble’s previous work appeared as long ago as 2009, when STEVE MORSE BAND issued “Out Standing In Their Field” – yet the axeman worked with his DIXIE DREGS colleague, bassist Dave LaRue, as late as 2019, when their other team, FLYING COLORS, put out one studio and two concert platters. Now, with drummer Van Romaine back on the stool, the old trinity’s magic – referenced in the record’s title – got restored. There are a few guests there, including such six-string luminaries as John Petrucci and Eric Johnson, but of course, it’s the album’s finale, “Taken By An Angel” which is dedicated to the late Janine, that’s this work’s most touching moment.
