Looks like the 20th anniversary of Rory Gallagher‘s passing is marked with a slew of the Irish guitarist-related products. Only recently, a TASTE box was announced which, once it’s out in August, is going will be lacking in a concert department. And now there’s some filling: a new set called “What’s Going On – Live At The Isle Of Wight” – scheduled for a September 18th release in video and audio formats – contains some familiar recordings, previously out on the “Message To Love” sets, as filmed by Murray Lerner. Similarly fleshed out material from 1970’s festival include performances by JETHRO TULL, and, like that one, the TASTE part has been turned into a documentary whose talking heads are Rory’s brother and manager Donal Gallagher as well as Brian May, The Edge, Bob Geldof and Larry Coryell, and augmented with the trio’s “Beat Club” appearances and new videos.
The footage restored and the sound remixed, the finished result will look like this:
