The adventures of MAN can be recounted endlessly, and the Welsh ensemble’s late leader Deke Leonard tried exactly that in his autobiographical series of books. There even was a film titled “God Walking Past” back in 2008, which covered only the first three years of the collective’s original lifespan, so now the time has come to take their story further – and deeper too. This is what a five-DVD set planned for release on November 18th aims for.
It doesn’t simply updates and expands the previous documentary but also adds new chapters to the tale that will end in 1976 when the band broke up to reform seven years later. Running for about nine hours, the set presents an in-depth review of the group’s career. Among the contributors some of whom sadly passed away – are MAN’s own Deke Leonard, Clive John, Terry Williams, Martin Ace, Phil Ryan, Tweke Lewis, Ken Whaley, John McKenzie, Micky Jones and George Jones as well as HAWKWIND’s Dave Brock and Nik Turner, NEKTAR’s Roye Albrighton, Ron Howard and Derek ‘Mo’ Moore, and COUNTRY JOE & THE FISH’s Barry Melton, plus Wreckless Eric, Rob Broughton and Geraint Watkins. Of course, it’s strictly for aficionados, yet one can expect a lot of interesting material there.
