Hot on the heels of THE STEVE MILLER BAND’s tribute, Billy Sherwood, has been working on the similar project focusing on THE DOORS. Involved are the usual prog suspects such as Jordan Rudess as well as less expected veterans, including two great guitarists: Stax’s own Steve Cropper, who laid down the solo for “Riders On The Storm”, and the URIAH HEEP leader Mick Box.
DME asked Mick about his involvement, and that’s what Mr. Box said, “I was asked to contribute some guitar work for this up-and-coming project through Daniel Earnshaw at our management office at QEDG Management UK. I think they just wanted the solo, but I ended up doing all of the guitar parts plus the solo. The song is “Love Her Madly,” and they wanted a different spin on it, as there was very little guitar on the original. I received back an email saying that the guitars work perfectly and the solo was ripping, coupled with the words ‘great job'”.
