There may have been a few gaps in Willie Nile‘s 45-year-long career where his listeners had to wait for quite a long time before the American singer delivered his next album, yet there seemed to be no waiting period longer than three years ever since the veteran’s gotten back on steady track in 2006 – until now. The artist’s 2021’s “The Day the Earth Stood Still” was a solid offering, but looks like the pandemic slightly derailed his plans for a follow-up, so it took Nile a bit more time to get to “The Great Yellow Light” which will see the light of day on June 20th – and should prove no less fascinating.
More U.S.-centric than its predecessor, this album – whose title refers to Van Gogh – promises to be political and poetic at the same time and featured a pair of prominent guests, Steve Earle, who was also present on Willie’s previous effort, and Paul Brady, so it must appeal to fans of folk rock and outlaw country too.
