He may not have hurried with the release of 2023’s "Flang Dang" which followed "Zone-O-Tone" that was issued ten years earlier, yet Andy Fairweather Low wouldn’t let the fiftieth anniversary of his most successful platter, “La Booga Rooga” from 1975 – one that spawned the infectious single “Wide Eyed And Legless” – slip away without any kind of event. And what could be a better event than the appearance of the veteran’s fresh work, a collection of songs reestablishing his blues roots.
The album titled “The Invisible Bluesman” which will be out on February 7th may refer to Andy’s role as an onstage guitarist for such stars as Eric Clapton – only, in fact, the newly recorded songs are staples of Fairweather Low’s favorite genre. From Elvis-patented “My Baby Left Me” and “Mystery Train” to Carl Perkins’ “Matchbox” and “Lightnin’s Boogie” by a certain Samuel Hopkins, there’s a lot to enjoy with the Welsh musician’s stamp, and stomp, all over the classics. Surely, not a record to pass by and pay no attention.
