Bernie Taupin To Put Out Ruminative Album

Those who assume Bernie Taupin doesn’t need an outlet beyond his lifelong collaboration with Elton John, know nothing about creativity. Of course, the great lyricist had a lot of side endeavors, including co-pepping the “From The Inside” album for his fellow Hollywood Vampire Alice Cooper, but the real Bernie could, to a certain extent, be perceived only on his solo records of which there are three – “Taupin” from 1971, 1980’s “He Who Rides The Tiger” and “Tribe” of the 1987 vintage – and perhaps on two FARM DOGS platters from the ’90s. Still, “The Sea Has No Mercy” that’s slated for release on October 23rd must become, in the Englishman’s own words, the veteran’s “most intimate” offering.

BERNIE TAUPIN –
The Sea Has No Mercy

Bernie states that he could only come up with these pieces as a septuagenarian, because they’re the result of a philosopher’s experience, which is why, apparently, Taupin chose not to seek a composer to weave melodies around his evocative verses. Faithful to his usual country leanings, he laid down the ten tracks in Nashville, with local musicians and two guests: Brandi Carlile, who co-starred with Elton on “Who Believes In Angels?” last year, and the poet’s younger daughter, Georgey. Feels alluring.
