Bob Catley Turns Acoustic On “Tales & Whispers”

For all his pomp and circumstance, Bob Catley has never been a stranger to the concept of unplugged album, as MAGNUM’s "Keeping The Nite Light Burning" effectively proved a quarter-century ago. Now that this ensemble ceased to exist in the wake of Tony Clarkin‘s untimely passing, the singer found himself facing the prospect of resuming a solo career which originally ran for a decade, between 1998 and 2008, and span six studio platters and one concert record. And is there a better for the veteran to ease back into the spirit of things than to remind the listener of his finest out-of-the-band moments?

That’s why the British warbler decided to turn acoustic on the eleven cuts forming “Tales & Whispers” which will be released on September 18th to find Bob in the company of guitarist Vince O’Regan who toured in a duo with him for quite some time, and the two laid down new versions of Catley’s pieces. It’s only his solo material – yet that’s the whole point of it.
