August hasn’t reached its middle point yet, but a slew of Yuletide platters already appears on various platforms for preorder. Most of them are predictably boring even at first glance – even when they’re not your usual Bublé-gum – although some seem interesting enough, and an occasional one feel too alluring to miss out on. Such is the “Father Christmas” EP from none other than the legendary Dave Davies.

To be released on October 20th, the four-track mini-album – at the moment, there’s no information about when and where these songs were recorded – features concert takes on a couple of Davies’ solo numbers and a couple of THE KINKS’ classics, including the titular cut which originally appeared on the band’s 1977 single and had Dave’s aggressive riffs at the fore to reflect on the punk fads of that period. Now, it’s about time to revive the old piece, and the veteran gives his fans a great Xmas present – if only on vinyl.
