Davey Dodds Invites All Friends To Share A Cask Of Strength

It’s a testament to his determination to the case of art that even serious health issues can’t stop Davey Dodds, a former singer with RED JASPER – he last appeared with them over a quarter-century ago, on "Anagramary" – and a writer of “The Magpie” that became a folk-rock staple by now, from playing live and recording. Such veteran’s albums as "Toadstool Soup" aren’t short of breathtaking, and he’s got a new one out now.

Cask Strength

A successor to “The Rite Of Spring” from 2021 is titled “Cask Strength” and features seven numbers. In Dodds’ words, “four of the tracks are new, and the other three are very different renditions of old songs” – including the aforementioned classic and “Dancing With The Jedi” from the preceding platter. Among Davey’s friends this time is David Clifford, his old RJ compadre and replacement as the band’s vocalist. An alluring offering is available on the Celtic master’s Bandcamp.
