FAUST Find A Fresh Point Of View

More important in the field of Krautrock than a certain Gounod opera in symphonic domain, FAUST don’t seem, fortunately for their followers, able to stop experimenting. While the echoes of 2022’s “Daumenbruch” – which saw the band’s collaborators overdub basic tracks, overseen by founding member Zappi W. Diermaier, doing this individually and independently of others and not knowing what those others would add – still reverberate through the ether, the veterans came up with a new album.

FAUST –
Blickwinkel:
Curated By Zappi W. Diermaier

Titled “Blickwinkel” and scheduled for September 13th, it finds drummer Diermaier curate fresh melodies that the ensemble’s inner and outer circles, including Zappi’s fellow founding father Gunther Wusthoff, composed. With bassist Dirk Dresselhaus and electronica maven Elke Drapatz improvising with the leader during the pandemic and the rest of players applying their touch afterwards, the results, once all the parts were assembled afresh, felt unexpectedly impressive – enough to gel into a proper FAUST platter. Prepare to be amazed, then.
