Fans often find it fascinating to listen to early variant of pieces they came to know and love, which is why collections of demos, even though the appeal of such material is limited in terms of audience, are possessed of charm and allure. And this is why STATUS QUO’s Francis Rossi decided to open his vaults and dust off quite a few numbers, with the first volume of those scheduled for release on July 18th.
“The Way We Were: Vol. 1” features 17 cuts penned by Rossi and Bob Young: five of these have never seen the light of day in any form, while the rest eventually landed on QUO and Francis’ solo albums, the band’s ones from the early ’00s. Hopefully, the next chapter, once it’s ready, will uncover the origins of classic tracks too; as for now, the aficionados who set some funds aside for the forthcoming reissue of “Live!” will have to prepare additional sum.
