Punk Veterans Pay Homage To THE BEATLES

Original punks may have despised many a classic-rock artist, but not THE BEATLES – and indeed, how that crowd could badmouth a band who took to the stage with toilet seats around their necks when those pseudo-nihilists could barely talk? Why not gather, then, and deliver a smattering of The Fabs covers on a standalone album? And this is exactly what the forthcoming “Anarchy On Abbey Road” comp is about.

To be out on May 9th, it sports a tad misleading title, as only one song that’s on there comes from the “Abbey Road” LP; more so, a couple of collectives who participate in this endeavor can hardly be categorized as punks. Still, with a nice slice of perennials plus a take on such non-canon rarity as “If You’ve Got Trouble” complaining would seem quite snobbish.
