It’s been a dozen years since the great Gary Moore shuffled off this mortal coil, yet the number of his listeners doesn’t decrease, and 2023 sees quite of few of the Irish guitarist’s albums reissued with just a smattering of bonus tracks attached to each of these. The same can be said of the forthcoming box set “The Sanctuary Years” which will be issued on June 23rd to round up the late artist’s albums released between 1999 and 2004.
The stint on the titular label wasn’t too successful for Moore as Gary veered from the style that proved to be commercially viable for him on the explicitly titled “Back To The Blues” and “Power Of The Blues” but interspersed these records with much more experimental “A Different Beat” and “Scars” – the last one credited to the eponymous ensemble. As a result, purchasing the four platters individually is hardly an alluring prospect – unlike having them packaged into a box set and augmented by a Blu-ray disc with the 5.1 Surround Sound mix of the first of the aforementioned albums – surprisingly missing one cut – and assorted interviews.
