Playing other people’s classic for their own show’s entirety has recently become a fad among rockers. So it goes with PINK FLOYD‘s “Dark Side Of The Moon” which has been covered live before by several acts, most famously by DREAM THEATER. No one would bet, though, that this fashion could touch GOV’T MULE whose blues are hardly associated with prog rock. Still, where else could they go after having heavy guests sing, as we reported, on their last album? Thankfully, “Dark Side Of The Mule” isn’t the 1973 record-setter but a mix of FLOYD’s pieces.
The first of the band’s archival releases, preserved for posterity on Halloween 2008, is to see the light of day on December 8th as a single disc, a 3CD / DVD package and, on January 12th, 2LP. Below is the video that goes on the DVD, while the digital media’s content looks like this:
