Joan Jett To Release Live Album From 1981

There’s been a lot of entries in Joan Jett‘s discography in the last four and a half decades since she her ensemble THE BLACKHEARTS issued their first two albums. Both out in 1981, “Bad Reputation” and “I Love Rock ‘n Roll” showed more than convincingly what a great creative, and interpretative, force the singing guitarist was, something that she couldn’t fully demonstrate as part of THE RUNAWAYS. Missing from the band’s history, however, was an official concert record, because 2001’s “Live!” saw the light only on DVD, which is why the forthcoming release of the collective’s 1981 performance seems important on many levels.

“Live At The Ritz NYC 1981” which hits the stores on April 18th as part of Record Store Day doesn’t capture that night’s entire set of no fewer than 21 songs, covers and origiunls, yet hopefully the former bootleg being out solely on vinyl is a temporary thing, as usually happens with such platters, and the CD variant will have all the tracks on it. Remarkable anyway.
