If there’s anything reliably robust in our world, it’s MARILLION‘s reissue programme. Showing other artists how it should be done and how fan-friendly the ensemble’s fierce independence must be, the expanded variants of their albums – not only classic ones but all of them – are objects of informative beauty, and the forthcoming arrival of 1987’s “This Strange Engine” makes no exception to the rule. Appearing on November 22nd as a four-CD and Blu-ray media book and five LPs, the “Deluxe Edition 2024” will again offer a depth-fathoming experience.
This time, a fresh remix of the platter is accompanied by a previously unreleased contemporary concert and a wide, or wild, assortment of bonus cuts scattered across CDs and Blu-ray, with the latter also housing a lengthy documentary and bootleg footage of another live show, a couple of promo videos and, of course, a Surround Sound mix. Impressive!
