The four-decades anniversary of TALKING HEADS’ “Stop Making Sense” turns out into a whole slew of related events – from the glorious reissue of the 1984 film for theaters to a special new edition of its soundtrack that’s been expanded with a few previously unreleased concert cuts – many of which were rather expected. What wasn’t, though, is a tribute album where the classic pieces are covered, in original running order, by contemporary musicians, including those whose songs can hardly betray that record’s influence. Still, listening to Norah Jones and Miley Cyrus intone, respectively, “This Must Be The Place ” and “Psycho Killer” feels quite interesting.
Wrapped in a bleak cover and slated for release on July 26th, “Everyone’s Getting Involved” also features, among others, BEASTIE BOYS associate Money Mark and THE NATIONAL, PARAMORE and Lorde, so there’s a lot to marvel at.
