This is the way of musical hoodoo that you can never go wrong with another recording from Dr. John, so while it was only last November that his 1988 concert emerged from the archives, the news of the late artist’s appearance at Rockpalast festival on on July 9th, 1999 being issued feel more than welcome. And not only because Mac Rebennack played such timeless perennials as “Mama Roux” and “Iko Iko” then – there was nothing unusual in his doing those pieces – but also because he performed a few new numbers.
