PAVLOV’S DOG Mark Their 50th Anniversary With New Album

It’s been five decades since the world was stunned to hear PAVLOV’S DOG debut album which made the American ensemble darlings of progressive rock realm, and though matching the creative triumph of "Pampered Menial" proved to be a nigh on impossible task, David Surkamp‘s collective never stopped trying. Their last effort, "Prodigal Dreamer" from 2018, got close to achieving that goal, though, yet while it exposed quite a few links with the band’s first platter, there will be more references on their forthcoming offering.

Scheduled to appear on October 3rd, “Wonderlust” takes its titular pun beyond the cover artwork – whose sepia also harks back to the veterans’ starting point – and includes such notable numbers as “Mona” that should remind the listener of the magnificent “Julia” and “Calling Sigfried” that mentions the group’s late violinist Siegfried Carver who was already immortalized on "Has Anyone Here Seen Sigfried" which is considered the St. Louis troupe’s “lost” third album. When old artists issue new music so infrequently, each fresh release might become their last, and if this is the case now, there can be no better way to bring a career to a close.
