Looks like Ritchie Blackmore’s revival of his former band has awaken a lot of RAINBOW demons – if they ever were asleep, that is. There’s been a slew of related releases lately, and May 13th will see the issue of “Boston 1981”: a document of the show the band played at Orpheum Theatre almost to the date 35 years before, on May 7th, 1981. They were promoting “Difficult To Cure” then, the group’s first album with Joe Lynn Turner on vocals, off which four pieces made it to the stage on that tour, other cuts being from their previous records and encore a DEEP PURPLE perennial. Available for years as a bootleg, now the tape makes it to the market in a legitimate way.
“Boston 1981” will be released on CD, in a limited edition mini-LP wallet, and on a double vinyl – blue, green or red – with a stitched-in 20-page booklet. A great addition to any collection. Read review here.
