Recording Of Gregg Allman’s Long-Forgotten Gig Gets Released

Given the fact that Gregg Allman‘s first concert album, “The Gregg Allman Tour” which saw the light of day back in 1974, was released hot on the heels of his first solo offering, it’s fairly surprising that during the legendary musician’s lifespan only other on-stage recording was issued officially, “Live: Back To Macon, GA” from 2015. Unsurprisingly, then, a document of his 1983 performance at "Uncle Sam's" which hit the shelves last year found such a hot reception from the veteran’s fans – and they will find it no less interesting to listen to a report from his next tour.

Scheduled to be out on May 30th, “One Night in DC: May 15 1984” captures Gregg and his band play a nice array of the BROTHERS’ pieces, including opener “Dreams” that Allman used to do during his initial trek, alongside his own classics, such as “Matthew’s Arrival” from 1977, and covers the ABB were wont to whip up quite frequently. If the appearance of this disc a year after the previous concert album means there will a series of further releases, it’s a good reason to feel elated.
