You may dislike the WHITE STRIPES skeleton drive but it’s impossible to deny the impetus of Jack White. An aficionado of vintage approach to music and business, he not only regularly diversifies in his own endeavors – be it with the aforementioned duo, THE RACONTEURS, THE DEAD WEATHER and so on – but also injects energy in revitalising the careers of his predecessors such as Loretta Lynn or Wanda Jackson.
The latter is among the host of veterans who’ve recorded his songs for “Rockin’ Legends Pay Tribute To Jack White,” out on November 19th, and its her version of “In The Cold, Cold Night.”
Alongside well-known names like Gary U.S. Bonds and Bobby Vee and more contemporary names, as well as former HAWKWIND saxophonist Nik Turner, a Neville brother and THE HEARTBREAKERS’ Walter Lure, the album features the likes of W.S. “Fluke” Holland, who drummed for Carl Perkins and Johnny Cash, and Sun Records’ guitarist Sonny Burgess. Quite a nice way to reconnect to one’s roots!
