Paul Rodgers: from Memphis with love

A dream for many years and a worthy sequel to 1993’s Grammy-nominated “Muddy Water Blues,” a new album from the legendary FREE and BAD COMPANY warbler Paul Rodgers is a collection of Stax classics. Recorded at Memphis Royal Studios, “The Royal Sessions,” out on February 4th, 2014, with a funky line-up that include Reverend Charles Hodges, Michael Tolls, LeRoy Hodges Jr. , Hubby Archie Turner, Steve Potts and James Robertson Sr.  plus THE ROYAL HORNS and THE ROYAL SINGERS, sees Rodgers put his own mark on soul and blues perennials by the likes of Ann Peebles, Albert King, THE TEMPTATIONS, Dionne Warwick and, of course, Otis Redding.

The Amazon version of the album produced by guitarist Perry Margouleff has three exclusive bonus cuts: two by Sam Cooke and one a FREE chestnut. Read the review.
