A steady reissue programme of TEN YEARS AFTER‘s classics – which featured a fresh reassessment of "A Space In Time" and "Ssssh" – is to bring forth a belated 55-anniversary edition of the British band’s first album from 1970, “Cricklewood Green” (presumably, “Watt” that was their second in that year will be next in line and fill the gap in it). Out on August 28th, the deluxe variant looks great – and feels like a missed opportunity.
It comes on two CDs – or two LPs which contain less of the extra material – where the first discs adds a few rarities, including the previously unheard “Cricklewood Jam” demo (of what) and the second presents the second of two concerts the quartet played at Fillmore East on February 27th, 1970. Given both of those night’s performances were recorded, and partially released, it’s a pity the first set didn’t end up on this reissue.
