Long known before as “On The Wings Of A Russian Foxbat” and made official back in 1995 – under different covers and titles on either side of the Atlantic – a King Biscuit recording of a concert that DEEP PURPLE played on February 27th, 1976 was re-released in 2009 only to emerge once again 7 years later in the band’s “Official Live Series” – with the same bonus tracks, cut in Springfield in January 1976. This means that “Long Beach Arena 1976” which is scheduled to hit the shelves on April 29th will have a limited appeal, although a “serial” cover may make it a welcome item for those who don’t already own the 2CD set displaying the might of David Coverdale‘s pipes and Glenn Hughes‘ improvisatory chops alongside Tommy Bolin’s grind and ever-solid performances from Jon Lord and Ian Paice.
