Elton John’s “Rainbow” Concert From 1977 To See Official Release

When Elton John left the stage of London’s “Rainbow Theatre” in May 1977, he had delighted the audience with no less than twenty-six songs, a few of which were performed live for the first time ever – well, not exactly during that particular concert but in the course of the singer’s week-long residency at the venue where Elton played six one-man shows partially accompanied, again for the first time ever, by the percussionist supreme Ray Cooper. A BBC recording from those nights was in bootleg circulation for years now, yet soon this document will be issued officially – as part of Record Store Day.

What will be out on April 12th is a vinyl-only selection of a dozen numbers; however, such releases are customarily expanded for CD version later on. So it makes sense to those not obsessed with collectibles, and prefer to concentrate on music, to sit and wait until the entire “Live From The Rainbow Theatre” report is announced.
