Layla Zoe Enters The Blue Zone On A Live Release

There’s no shortage of blues-rock chanteuses in the world but only a few of them consistently serve up the thrill of hearing what they do, and Layla Zoe is one of those songstresses. The Canadian artist has been tirelessly working as a solo performer and contributing her incendiary lines to such prominent albums as "Krissy Matthews & Friends" for close to two decades now, and Ms. Zoe’s on-stage recordings always matched her studio platters. Still, “Into The Blue: Live In Concert” which will be issued on September 19th should feel special for a variety of reasons.

To begin with, it sees the lady deliver her first audience-fronting offering since returning to independent mode with 2023’s “Back To The Spirit Of 66”; also, it seems to be Layla’s first-ever visual release, as there’s a CD and a Blu-ray disc in the package, both documenting the Nanaimo native’s show at “Harmonie” in Bonn, Germany, on March 27th of this year. Accompanied on that night by the aforementioned Matthews on guitar, Felix Dehmel on drums and Josh Rigal on bass, she was on fire, and to be catching her fire feels fantastic – and where else Janis and SABBATH covers can exist in the same context?
