Eric Clapton Closes On “Something Old, Something New” Album

When it comes to albums of largely original material, “Back Home” was Eric Clapton‘s last offering of the kind, and that record was released back in 2005, and the four platters he issued between then and now, the latest one being “Happy Xmas” from 2018, found the legendary artist mostly covering other people’s material. However, deciding to condense his release calendar, Slowhand is ready to follow up on "To Save A Child" – a concert document which appeared earlier this year – with a studio work. A work partially familiar to his fans.

George Harrison’s “Material World” Gets Rounded For A Box Set

Following in the wake of “All Things Must Pass” and “The Concert For Bangladesh” in 1973 George Harrison‘s “Living In The Material World” seemed destined to become a successful effort – and it was, spearheaded by the “Give Me Love (Give Me Peace On Earth)” single and offering quite a few more memorable songs. Of course, it was also destined to receive a 50th Anniversary deluxe box set treatment – only there has been a delay, even though last year didn’t feel too saturated with the Fabs’ products. Whatever the reason, the fresh edition will hit the shelves on November 15th.

Midge Ure Reports From The Albert Hall With Entire “Vienna”

Having witnessed Midge Ure‘s recent concert, this scribe can safely say that the Scottish artist doesn’t really need a big venue to capture the audience with his songs – yet the venue he performs in should be respectful to those songs, especially when “Dear God” and “Hymn” are its start and finale. But there’s a large venue able to provide such environment, and it was there that the legend’s forthcoming album “Royal Albert Hall: 04.10.23” was recorded at – to be issued on November 8th as a three-disc set of a CD and LP varieties.

Leo Sayer Dusts Off Lost Album From Early ’90s

A period between 1990’s “Cool Touch” and “Voice in My Head” from 2005 was barren for Leo Sayer – or so it seemed from his followers’ point of view. At the time the singer was embroiled in a legal war with Chrysalis, trying to wrangle the publishing rights to his songs out of his erstwhile record label’s hands, and though the artist won the battle in the end, the songs he wrote in the early ’90s, about thirty pieces in all, and recorded in a solo mode in home studio, didn’t see the light of day. But they will – on November 29th.

Al Jarreau’s Posthumous Tribute To Duke Ready For Release

At first glance, there’s not a lot in common between two jazz giants, Al Jarreau and Duke Ellington – apart from their love for sonic experiments, that is: the former was usually associated with vocal acrobatics and the latter with instrumental extravaganzas. Yet back in 2016, less then four months before his untimely passing, Jarreau visited Hamburg for an evening called “The Duke Ellington Songbook” which saw the American singer team up with NDR BIGBAND, a small German ensemble who provided a great, imaginative accompaniment to his famous voice. And now, the results of their collaboration are ready to be out.
