Michael Walden Calls Wonder, Sting And Santana For “Euphoria”

As a drummer for MAHAVISHNU ORCHESTRA and WEATHER REPORT, a prominent player on Jeff Beck and Robert Fripp’s platters, and a producer who worked with Aretha Franklin and Whitney Houston, to list but a few lines on his resumé, Narada Michael Walden is a legend, and his solo oeuvre that started with a classic “Garden Of Love Light” in 1976 is a soul journey onto itself. Still very much active, the veteran might be busy with his younger charges, such as Jennifer Saran and Cornell Carter but he still finds time to record his own albums, and now Walden follows 2015’s "Evolution" with another star-studded release which will hit the shelves on November 17th.

Unissued FACES Sessions Prepared For Record Store Day

Yes, Record Store Day isn’t for everybody as not everyone is willing to line-up in a physical shop to get their hands on a vinyl-only release, yet it does make sense to pay attention to it anyway, because quite a few of these releases expand to CDs as well – several months down the line – which is why a forthcoming LP from FACES should be mentioned now. What will get issued on November 24th is titled “Had Me A Real Good Time – At The BBC: In Session & In Concert – 1971-1973” and contains exactly that: the legendary quintet’s Beeb recordings.

The Hackett Brothers Join David Jackson’s Latest Project

Unlike many of his progressive rock peers, David Jackson has never lost a penchant for experimentation, and when Italian organist Marco Lo Muscio invited the legendary sax player to work on acoustic readings of the twentieth century classics spanning symphonic, jazz, experimental and rock continuums, the veteran could not neither resist nor refuse this offer. Where else one would be able to create a common context for pieces written by Ligeti and KING CRIMSON or by Britten and Garbarek? More so, the keyboard maestro invited to what is called PROJECT ONE two of his regular collaborators, the Hackett brothers, Steve and John.

TRAPEZE Archives To Open Soon

With “Black Cloud” and “You Are The Music” to name but two, they could reach a tremendous success – perhaps, rivaling the success of another British trio, CREAM – but the ascension of TRAPEZE was hampered when the band’s singing bassist Glenn Hughes got poached by DEEP PURPLE, which set the trend of the collective’s members being hunted by bigger groups. With Rob Kendrick joining BUDGIE, Dave Holland departing for JUDAS PRIEST and Pete Goalby moving into URIAH HEEP, the Wolverhampton team’s leader Mel Galley appeared stranded and accepted the invitation to join WHITESNAKE, thus consolidating his ensemble’s status as a supplier of great players – and great platters, too.

Stewart Copeland’s Pseudonymous Debut Goes Deluxe

“Klark Kent”: that was a self-titled debut album from an unknown entity of an artist that saw the light of day in 1980, and it wouldn’t have attracted much attention if “Don’t Care” didn’t appear on the longplay after being released as as single in 1978 to land in the UK Top 50. However, two years later people seemed to be sure that recognized the manner of the enigmatic singing multi-instrumentalist, because they had recently heard him on “Zenyatta Mondatta” by the POLICE where he served as a drummer, backing vocalist and one of the writers. Indeed, despite initial refusal to admit his alter-ego activity, Stewart Copeland owned up to his authorship.
