THE BLACK CROWES Commemorate Their “Shake” On A Concert Platter

For all their fluctuating popularity, one can feel that THE BLACK CROWES haven’t been given enough credit yet for stripping the glam off the ’80s blues-based hard rock to reveal the rough roots of the genre and expose heavy blues for everyone to love again. Released in early 1990, the American band’s debut “Shake Your Money Maker” is, thus, very important in the grand scheme of cultural things, and in the last couple of years the Robinson brothers set to observe the influence of the past on their present day – starting with the aforementioned album’s 30th anniversary edition in 2021, continuing with the “1972” EP in 2022, and delivering a live record, the collective’s first concert recording since 2013, on March 17th, 2023.

Allan Clarke Teams Up With Graham Nash To Share Memories

SLADE’s Don Powell Presents THE DREAMERS’ Debut

Don Powell might have been relieved from songwriting duties when Noddy Holder and Jim Lea’s numbers proved the most successful, yet it’s impossible to imagine SLADE’s cuts without his thunderously nuanced beat. After the drummer’s aforementioned colleagues had left the fold, he stuck by the other remaining band member Dave Hill’s side and carried on under the same collective name – first, with the appendix of “II”; later, without it – although Powell has always felt constrained by his main team’s endeavors. Don not only joined his glam-rock friends Suzi Quatro and Andy Scott in QSP and formed his own OCCASIONAL FLAMES but also, once fired from SLADE in 2020, came up with DON & THE DREAMERS whose debut platter “It’s Never Too Late To Be A Rockstar” will be out on March 23rd.

Phil Spalding Passed Away

To say that Phil Spalding was a larger-than-life character would mean to underestimate a lifeforce this highly esteemed British bassist used to embody for decades – until now. The veteran musician – whose powerfully melodic spank remains preserved for posterity on such different pieces as Mike Oldfield’s “Moonlight Shadow” and Robbie Williams’ “Supreme” as well as RIGHT SAID FRED’s “I’m Too Sexy” and “The Lion King” soundtrack – has suddenly passed away at the age of 65. It’s difficult to believe – given how cheery he’s always been. Barely a week has passed since Spalding was gushing about landing the lead song in the Italian film “Diversamente” – yet Phil is gone.
