THE STYLE COUNCIL’s “Café Bleu” Gets Belated Expansion

November 6, 2025

Whatever Paul Weller fans expected from him after THE JAM had folded, the soulful pop of THE STYLE COUNCIL, a band he created with DEXYS’ Mick Talbot wasn’t that, and yet their debut album, “Café Bleu” from 1984, didn’t disappoint anybody apart, perhaps, from hardcore punks. Prefaced by a slew of singles which, outside of the UK, were corralled into a longplay titled “Introducing The Style Council” in 1983, it charted rather high in quite a few countries and remains a favorite among many an aficionado. No wonder, then, in this record finally seeing an expanded reissue, even if a year after the classic’s 40th anniversary.

Fred Frith Offers Two Exciting Collaborative Efforts

November 5, 2025

Criminally underrated outside of musicians’ circles despite his legendary status and fantastic track records, both as member HENRY COW and a solo artist, Fred Frith couldn’t care more things not pertaining to music – but fortunately, there’s always music for the guitarist to explore. And explore further tuneful vistas is what he’s been doing for more than half a century now, 2024’s “Guitar Solos / Fifty” marking the titular anniversary of Fred’s career as a performer in his own right, and stopping seems to be out of the question for Frith who’s adding two more entries to his discography now.

Interview with Gilles Snowcat

November 4, 2025

This Brussels denizen has a whiff of enigma about him, and his labyrinthine discography doesn’t make it easy to crack the artist’s code due to Snowcat’s stylistic versatility and his many records’ genre-defying diversity. Still, “something for everyone” – a fitting characteristic of Gilles’ body of work – can indicate his willingness to satisfy any taste, but that may also mean his audiences are always in for a surprise, even though some subjects travel from one of the Belgian’s platter’s to another.

Colin Blunstone Releases First Proper Live Record

November 2, 2025

One may assume that, with a career spanning more than six decades, Colin Blunstone would have quite a few concert albums under his belt, given the ZOMBIES warbler issued a dozen platters outside of the band, yet this is not the case. To date, there has been but a single release like this, 1995’s “Live At The BBC” corralling the veteran’s archival outings. Fortunately, such a strange situation is about to get remedied, as November 21st will see the appearance of the “One Year And More” set, a result of the singer’s gracing the stage of London’s Union Chapel on November 25th, 2024.

Teddy Thompson Puts Out First Live Album

November 1, 2025

It’s almost impossible to believe that, in a career that lasts a quarter-century now, having started with his eponymous album back in 2000, Teddy Thompson didn’t issue a single concert platter – until he did. A few weeks ago, the English singer-songwriter released, via Bandcamp an arresting set titled “Live At The Rogue Folk Club” which was laid down in June 2024 at the titular Vancouver venue and features, among other numbers, quite a few pieces off his latest solo offering "My Love Of Country" from 2023.
