For all their proto-punk and psychedelic originality and underground leanings, PINK FAIRIES have always been partial to interpreting other people’s material. A couple of borrowed pieces augmented the British band’s second longplay, “What A Bunch Of Sweeties” from 1972, and comprising more than a half of the “Live at the Roundhouse 1975” album, but an entire platter consisting of covers seemed an unlike endeavor for the veterans… Until now.
January 6th, 2026 will see the release of “Covered In Pink”: a collection of a devil’s dozen numbers, including a fresh take on the ensemble’s own classic and a new tune that forms a finale, laid down by the group’s founding member, guitarist Paul Rudolph, and a former HAWKWIND bassist Alan Davey, with a few friends, among then Michael Moorcock and Danny Faulkner. There’s also a posthumous appearance of Nik Turner on sax to make it all truly transcendental.
“As musicians one can like a song a lot but sometimes, in one’s head, hear it a different way,” explains Davey, “and the songs we covered ‘in pink’ here are the result of that. For this new album Paul Rudolph, I and Cleopatra Records all chose a handful of favorite songs to do PINK FAIRIES-style or create our own variations of them. It was a fun album for us to do!”

2. Rosalyn (PRETTY THINGS)
