Steve Hillage puts out the “Rainbow” show from 1977

Last years have seen a string of concert releases from Steve Hillage, but his first album recorded on-stage saw the light of day in the late ’70s. “Live Herald” included some tracks recorded at the “Rainbow” theater in London back in 1977. And it’s the same time and the same venue whence the just-released “Live At The Rainbow 1977” comes. Drastically different in its repertoire from the “Germany-77” video tape, it catches former GONG guitarist in the company of American rhythm section instead of fellow Englishmen do what he does best: cosmik music infused with out-of-this-world humor.

Playing material from both “Fish Rising” and “L” albums from the previous years as well as from then-forthcoming “Motivation Radio,” Steve delivers a fine selection on this CD, the full tracklist looking as follows:
