When TALKING HEADS announced the release of their Cleveland concert from December 1978 as part of the recent Record Store Day, it was obvious that the ensemble were gearing up for the reissue of “More Songs About Buildings And Food” a little further down the line. Indeed, the deluxe edition of the band’s sophomore album will be out on July 27th to follow up on the similarly formatted box set of the Americans’ first longplay from last year. Only, and this is a big surprise, the aforementioned show is not part of it.
Instead, there’s an earlier stage performance, previously unheard, from New York on one of the three CDs which, together with a Blu-ray, make up this set, the other audio discs dedicated to, respectively, a freshly remastered album and rarities, with surround mixes and fully restored archival live videos enriching the original platter’s context. But while it’s good to know that a four-LP and two-LP edition are also planned, the leaving out of the “Agora” tapes raises quite a few questions.
