Peter Hammill To Bring Forth “The Naked Songs Tour” Tapes

March 28, 2024

When Peter Hammill embarked on a concert trek in 1985, his fans were in for a few surprises. For one, the veteran hadn’t released a new album since 1983’s “Patience”; more so, the former VdGG leader parted company with K GROUP and electric-ensemble assault to stand alone and strip his repertoire to sonic essentials. Hence “The Naked Songs Tour” which, on March 8th of that year found the Englishman at “Schauburg” in Bremen, performing numbers from across his solo career and his former band’s repertoire.

John Cale Uses New Illusions

March 27, 2024

Sometimes good things take long to arrive but when the do they come in twos – at least. John Cale‘s had to wait seven years for his 2016’s “M:FANS” to be succeeded by “Mercy” in January 2023, yet that album sees a follow-up planned for release on June 14th – titled “POPtical Illusion” and featuring a devil’s dozen fresh cuts. Also fueled by current affairs, this platter is quite different from its immediate predecessor.

Glen Matlock And Clem Burke Report From Stage

March 26, 2024

Perhaps, it is due to the fact that this collective issued their concert album only on a limited-edition double-vinyl and as a download, omitting – hopefully, temporarily – a CD version that the recent release of the “Lust For Live” album went largely unnoticed by the masses. Or maybe it is due to the fact that the ensemble convened by SEX PISTOLS’ bassist Glen Matlock and BLONDIE drummer Clem Burke with Katie Puckrik on vocals and guitarist Kevin Armstrong who played with David Bowie and Iggy Pop in order to celebrate the 45th anniversary of the latter’s “Lust For Life” during a series of shows in early 2023 didn’t get as much attention as GENERATION SEX whose ranks included a pair of ex-PISTOLS and a pair of GENERATION X members. Yet LUST FOR LIFE BAND‘s LP cannot be ignored.

Anthony Phillips Posts A New Chapter Of “Private Parts & Pieces”

March 25, 2024

It’s a unique development for a collection of various bits and pieces to not only coalesce into a single context but also become a successful series of albums, and that’s exactly what happened when former GENESIS guitarist Anthony Phillips took his 1978 project "Private Parts & Pieces" further to be met with praise and affection and become highly successful. Still, when the veteran delivered the platters array’s last volume in 2012, his fans found it hard to believe “City Of Dreams” would signal the line’s finale – after all, with Ant’s perfectionism ending “PP&P” with a record number eleven felt strange – so May 31st will see the series’ new chapter follow 2019’s "Strings Of Light" into the sunset.

Pat Mastelotto, Markus Reuter And Trey Gunn Create A Love Front

March 24, 2024

Having played together in various configurations, Pat Mastelotto, Markus Reuter and Trey Gunn are quite logically and rather telepathically tuned into each other’s train of creative thought, so it was a little wonder their trio TU-NER‘s debut "T-1 Contact Information" turned out to be one of the last year’s delights. What’s surprising, however, is that this album will soon see a follow-up – too soon some would have said if a record titled “T2: For Lovers” didn’t originate onstage, reflecting the ensemble’s concert shows of 2023.
