Alan Hull might have been a songwriting genius whose creations not only fueled LINDISFARNE’s success but also turned the Englishman’s solo albums into cult classics, yet a lot of what landed on the ensemble’s early platters, and his own records too, was rooted in demos prepared in the late ’60s with a prospect of publishing multiple pieces and possibly placing them with different performers. Hull connoisseurs heard about those tapes, laid down at the Impulse Sound studio, for decades – heard about the tapes, not the tapes per se, because only a smattering of the demos appeared on various compilations and, as bonuses, reissues. However, February 23rd will see the release of Alan’s entire cache of tunes.
