Four years ago, when ENVY OF NONE came into existence, one would be tempted to give all the kudos in the world to those who eagerly accepted this ensemble’s intent to never play up the pedigree of guitarist Alex Lifeson and simply play progressive pop Maiah Wynne’s vocals are perfect for, with bassist Andy Curran and another guitarist, Alfio Annibalini, contributing just as much to the creative side of things. The band’s self-titled debut found favor with a lot of listeners who voiced a single complaint only a year later, once the “That Was Then” EP appeared instead of a full-length follow-up, although the public needed no better indication of the collective beavering away on a proper album. And now their second platter is ready for release.
