For all his soulfulness, Paul Carrack let an occasional country inflection into the songs he controbuted to ACE and MIKE + THE MECHANICS canons, yet nobody expected the British veteran to ever deliver a full-blown Appalachia-tinctured album. Only Paul has ever admired the likes of George Jones and Hank Williams, and they’re but two artists whose classics Carrack covers on his forthcoming platter, titled “The Country Side Of Paul Carrack – Volume 1” and scheduled for release on July 4th, right in time to celebrate such an important part of American culture.

HAWKWIND Give “Hall Of The Mountain Grill” A New Dimension

It’s quite sad, really, that the news of HAWKWIND‘s “Hall Of The Mountain Grill” getting a belated 50th anniversary overhaul comes on the heels of other news, that of the passing of Simon House whose debuted with the band on this album. But it’s also a celebration of his, and his colleagues, talents, because what they concocted remains a solid classic without which the tremendous "Warrior On The Edge Of Time" wouldn’t have been possible. That’s why the reissue planned for August 29th should not be ignored.

TALKING HEADS Expand “More Songs” And Miss An Opportunity

When TALKING HEADS announced the release of their Cleveland concert from December 1978 as part of the recent Record Store Day, it was obvious that the ensemble were gearing up for the reissue of “More Songs About Buildings And Food” a little further down the line. Indeed, the deluxe edition of the band’s sophomore album will be out on July 27th to follow up on the similarly formatted box set of the Americans’ first longplay from last year. Only, and this is a big surprise, the aforementioned show is not part of it.

John Wetton’s Estate Prepares Second Concert Box Set

Not a lot of artists are able to shine in various setups – in collectives and solo, in duos and trios, in plugged-in and unplugged formats – but the late John Wetton was one of those precious few musicians who could shine in any surroundings. Unsurprisingly, of course, given his pedigree and stylistic variety of ensembles he used to be part of, so the veteran’s live shows always felt special, and that specialness is the focus of “Concentus”: a triptych of box sets which corral John’s onstage legacy. While its initial installment released last year (no comment on the quality since this site didn’t get issued a review copy of the ten-CD package) encompassed different configurations of Wetton’s band, its second chapter, prepared by the legend’s estate to see the light of day on August 29th, will concentrate mostly on electric groups he commandeered.

Document Of Gary Brooker Memorial To See Audiovisual Release

Gary Brooker‘s passing on February 19th, 2022 robbed the world of one of the greatest songwriters and a fabulous human being, and staging a concert dedicated to his memory and featuring many of his friends was merely a matter of time. It took quite a long time, though, to arrange for the many musicians to come together and remember their fallen comrade, the star-studded show eventually unfolding on December 4th, 2023, when rock elite, including Roger Taylor and Mike Rutherford, descended on Guildford’s “G Live” for a couple hours of celebrating the life of a legend. And now the recording of that night’s event is ready for release as a deluxe set comprising two CDs, DVD and Blu-ray.
