Jamie West-Oram Opens THE FIXX’s Out Door

June 30, 2023

It can well be a symptom of British new-wave veterans THE FIXX still going strong that their original guitarist Jamie West-Oram has finally decided to deliver a solo album. Having joined the band in 1980 after a spell with Philip Rambow, West-Oram stayed an integral part of their line-up for all these years, and the ensemble’s latest offering, 2022’s “Every Five Seconds” – their first since “Beautiful Friction” from 2012 – featured a lot of his hooks. Yet there’s much more on “Skeleton Key” which will be out on August 18th.

ELOY Wrap Up The Jeanne d’Arc Trilogy

June 28, 2023

Given their futuristic stylings – and one of their classic platters called “Silent Cries And Mighty Echoes” – German prog progenitors ELOY may have chosen an unfortunate title for their latest endeavor. Many may assume that the “Echoes From The Past” album, which was released on June 23rd, is a compilation of the group’s golden oldies, but no – it brings to a close one of the most challenging Frank Bornemann’s projects: a trilogy about the legendary Jeanne d’Arc.

Derek Sherinian And Simon Phillips Report From Stage

June 26, 2023

It’s quite surprising that, being the go-to musicians for a myriad of various projects and running projects of their own, Simon Phillips and Derek Sherinian are able to find time to team up not only in the studio but also on stage. This doesn’t occur so often, yet one of such rare cases took place at “The Grape” in Ventura, California on August 29th, 2022 – and was, thankfully, recorded to be released on CD and vinyl almost a year later, on August 25th.

Paul Rodgers Discovers “Midnight Rose”

June 24, 2023

Given Paul Rodgers‘ creative longevity, it’s almost impossible to believe that the legendary singer’s solo oeuvre numbers only five studio records, his debut platter “Cut Loose” – laid down with no other musicians on board – emerging as far back as four decades ago, in 1983. More so, two out of these handful albums – 1993’s “Muddy Water Blues” and "The Royal Sessions" from 2014, the veteran’s latest offering – were, comprised of covers, save for the former tribute’s titular track, meaning 2000’s "Electric" was Rodgers’ last display of original pieces. Yet it will become Paul’s penultimate one on September 22nd when “Midnight Rose” is bound to be released.

All-Stars Cast To Cross “Abbey Road”

June 23, 2023

There’s no such thing as most lovable album by THE BEATLES – tastes differ, after all – but if there was, “Abbey Road” would make a cut for many a fan, musicians included. It’s a record that quite a few artists have paid homage to over the years, among them George Benson’s “The Other Side Of Abbey Road” and “McLemore Avenue” by Booker T. & THE M.G.s, so a platter which will be issued on August 18th shouldn’t surprise anyone. The line-up featured on “Abbey Road Reimagined” can astound some, though.
