LP Holds The Line On LP Number Seven

Laura Pergolizzi, widely known as LP, didn’t make life easier for anyone, themselves included, when going for these initials when issuing their debut album “Heart-Shaped Scar” back in 2001 – and perhaps, with vinyl popularity in decline, the singer-songwriter didn’t really think of future fans trying to locate this and the following platters online and having to sift through multiple longplays to find the required record. It shouldn’t be a problem though, with LP’s forthcoming offering, “Love Lines” that’s to be out on September 29th.

BRÖSELMASCHINE Take Their New Songs To The Stage

It speaks volumes of an old ensemble’s self-assuredness and their eagerness to go hand in hand with the times if the veterans dare to limit their concert performances solely to modern-day material. This is the case with BRÖSELMASCHINE, a German progressive band who started off in 1968 and disintegrated five years down the line to reform sporadically in the ’70s and return to life in 2005. It took the group another decade and a half before a new album came about to be followed quite soon by a fresh one; and it’s from these – 2017’s “Indian Camel” and 2019’s "Elegy" – that the set of their forthcoming live document is comprised of.

Midge Ure Expands “The Gift”

Midge Ure would have been a prominent player on the world’s music scene if his only contribution to global culture was cowriting the “Do They Know It’s Christmas” single and co-producing Live Aid, yet there’s much more to the Scottish artist who felt equally comfortable fronting the punk outfit RICH KIDS, weaving heavy guitar parts in THIN LIZZY and leading new wave heroes ULTRAVOX to the ’80s glory. And then there’s his solo career which started in 1985 with the release of “The Gift”: a powerful platter which will see the expanded reissue on September 22nd.

Teddy Thompson Turns To Country

One may find it difficult to believe but Teddy Thompson‘s career started more than two decades ago, when the youngster went off on a well-rooted tangent from the familiar folk-rock – the genre he inherited from both parents’ musical genes. What’s not so hard to wrap one’s mind around, though, is this artist’s affection for the American branch of traditional tree as hidden tracks on Teddy’s first two albums originated in country, and Thompson’s third offering “Upfront & Down Low” consisted – almost entirely, save for a sole self-penned number – of country cuts too. So there’s little surprise in the 47-year-old veteran’s 2023 platter being titled “My Love Of Country” and, again, featuring, almost exclusively, well-known material.

Lemmy-Fronted HEADCAT Unseal Two Live Albums

While most people find Lemmy’s name synonymic with MOTÖRHEAD and some remember the great late bassist’s tenure with HAWKWIND, not a lot of his followers are aware of HEADCAT, or THE HEAD CAT, the rockabilly trio Ian Kilmister was involved at the end of this century together with THE STRAY CATS drummer Slim Jim Phantom and 13 CATS guitarist Danny B. Harvey. Their repertoire consisted of classic covers but their two studio platters barely hinted at the stage wildness the veterans could demonstrate, and even their 2000 debut “Rockin’ The Cat Club” failed to do justice to that. Yet two records which will be released on September 15th must deliver the thrills.
